Flavor Flav is checking another celebrity run-in off his bucket list!
The Public Enemy rapper, 65, shared a video to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Sept. 12, documenting his heartwarming meeting with Paul Simon — someone he said he’s been listening to since he was a child.
In the footage taken at a New York Yankees game this week, Flav can be seen walking up to the 82-year-old singer-songwriter as the pair shared a big hug and held each other’s shoulders while getting to know one another.
“Oh my God, this is amazing,” Flav, dressed in a Yankees jersey and cap, said while hugging Simon. “Oh man. This is crazy.”
After Simon asked the MC if “you guys” — seemingly referring to Public Enemy — were from Brooklyn, Flav clarified that he’s from Long Island, before bowing down to Simon and holding his hands. “Ever since I was a kid, bro,” Flav said, as Simon touched his face. “Always been a big fan.”
“This is a dream come true meeting you,” he added at the end of the clip, before the duo got to talking about the Olympics.
Flav also uploaded a photo with Simon, taken after he let the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee try on his white sunglasses. “Hello Paul Simon, my old friend,,, My Long Lost Pal, You Can Call Me Al and of course you can wear my sunglasses!!!” Flav wrote.
“Such an honor to meet this icon and thank him for everything he’s done for world music.”
Flav posted the moment on Instagram, as well, where he revealed that Simon told him, ‘Here, let me wear your glasses.’
“WOOWWW,!!! What an honor to meet this icon and thank him for everything he has done for music and world music,” he reiterated. “I can’t wait to come back and go to a Yankees game WITH him.”
Simon reposted the sentiment on his own Instagram Story, alongside the message, “Great time running into @flavorflavofficial.”
Flav has rubbed shoulders with quite a few new friends in recent months, with headline-making interactions involving Guy Fieri, First Lady Jill Biden, Billie Eilish, Bruce Springsteen and of course, Taylor Swift.

Earlier this week, the Public Enemy MC presented at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards — where he not only handed Swift and Post Malone their Moonman for best collaboration, but also surprised Olympian Jordan Chiles with her very own bronze clock necklace after she was stripped of her bronze medal following the gymnastics floor exercise final in August. “I got you something that they can’t take away from you,” Flav said at the time, bestowing the timepiece on Chiles, 23.
“And guess what else, too,” Flav later added. “I got your prize money, too. I got that for you. I got that for you. I got your prize money for you. I just wanted to surprise you with that. I didn’t want to say nothing to you backstage.”
“But Jordan, you did your thing. Congratulations. You deserve everything.”
